Gelila Alemayheu is the Program Coordinator for the Black Youth Fellowship at UARR. She has been involved in increasing racial representation in higher education since her undergraduate degree at McMaster University. There, she worked with likeminded individuals part of the Black Aspiring Physicians of McMaster to create events and initiatives to support Black undergraduate students interested in pursuing medicine. Currently, she is a third year medical student at Western University. Gelila hopes to combine her passion of health equity, mental health and mentorship as a future-physician and community member.
