The award is presented by Urban Alliance on Race Relations, a grassroots community group that has fought against inequality and discrimination in Toronto since 1975.
Goar is the first winner of the Urban Alliance’s media award, which is named after the late Canadian journalist of Sindhi descent who immigrated to Canada from India in 1973 and six years later, began working at the Montreal Gazette. He passed away in 2003.
