Black Youth Fellowship

The Black Youth Fellowship (BYF) seeks to place highly motivated, passionate, and hard working young people on a fast track to success. BYF is a professional and leadership development program focusing on building the next generation of Black public servants - providing training, mentorship, internship, and an opportunity to get involved in a community project.

BYF is a four month program, with the inaugural cohort beginning January 2022. Intensive training and mentoring are complemented by a 12-week placement in the office of a Member of Council.

The ideal applicants are individuals who:

  • Are eager to build their political literacy by entering entry-level positions
  • Want to deepen their understanding of municipal governance
  • Have a desire to benefit their communities
  • Seek to develop strong leadership skills that will hopefully place them in prominent decision-making roles in the future.

Paid Part time, Temporary: 8-12 hours/week for 12 weeks, Jan-April 2022.
