We are excited to announce that our dynamic team is growing further as we welcome new training facilitators and young fellows to join our ongoing initiatives. UARR remains committed towards addressing racial injustice and discrimination across Toronto, aiming to eliminate barriers for all individuals. We continue to develop initiatives and events to raise awareness about the issues that impact our communities.

While some of our current youth fellowship cohorts are wrapping up their placements, we have new fellows joining the program and getting ready to begin their placements this month. We are excited to support them on this journey and we look forward to sharing their accomplishments with you.

Take a look at how our Racial Equity in Education team calls for school boards to implement motions confronting anti-Black racism. Please read on to learn more about these current projects, our upcoming events, job opportunities, and how to get involved in some of our initiatives.

#CUETHESTRATEGY: TCDSB Needs An Anti-Black Racism Strategy

The TCDSB's last Equity Action Plan (2018-2021) fails to even mention the term "Anti-Black Racism".  Hence, the Coalition for Racial Equity in Education is calling on TCDSB to develop a comprehensive plan to confront anti-Black racism experienced by Black students, families, and staff.

The Ongoing Journey of Our Ambitious Fellows.

The Diversity Youth Fellowship

The Diversity Youth Fellowship is proud to welcome its summer cohorts of Filipino Youth Fellows and Muslim Youth Fellows. We have five talented Filipino Youth Fellows and nine talented Muslim Youth Fellows, who are set to begin their City Hall placements on May 9, 2022. The DYF wishes them the best of luck on what is sure to be a rewarding and enlightening placement opportunity. We are pleased to continue facilitating this valuable placement experience bringing the vital perspectives of youth from under-represented backgrounds into critical decision-making spaces.

A Warm Welcome to Our New Fellows!

Filipino Youth Fellowship

We are excited to announce that our new fellows will begin their placements on May 9th, 2022. The fellows from the Black Youth Fellowship have wrapped up their placements and are now finalizing their community projects. We are excited to celebrate the fellows in June as they graduate from the program. Please keep a look out on our social media for details on the graduation.

Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression Education Institute

We are delighted to welcome a few new facilitators to our team and are currently onboarding and training them. This month we have our last professional development session on Confronting Anti-Black Racism with the staff at Havergal College. We will also be supporting the PATAC (Philippine Advancement Through Arts and Culture) with a learning session for their members on systemic issues affecting Filipino youth for their Anti-Racism Project.
